I have worked in the Child Protection and Out of Home Care (Foster Care) space for 5 years now.

My journey first started at the Department of Communities and Justices, before I transitioned into the Not For Profit sector.

During my time in this space, I have worked with an endless number of vulnerable children, families and foster carers from a wide range of backgrounds.
I have watched many children enter their new foster families homes with nothing but a garbage bag of their belongings. These children often feel alone and isolated from their families and communities. I would regularly call my foster carers to see if they had any second hand clothing or items that they could donate to the children we worked with.

I’m so appreciative and excited to see such amazing initiatives being run by Fostering Our Ummah. Being able to give a child some comfort and something to call their own in such a scary part of their lives, is truly something special.
I really am grateful to be part of such an amazing team, and look forward to continuing to bring change to our most vulnerable children.
